If you loved Leliana you will love this and the price will be the only thing to make you pause for consideration before hitting the ‘buy’ button. For anyone else it is a far from essential addition to DA:O.

Great new music is another highlight of Dragon Age: Origins - Leliana's Song. The crooked tunes you hear during the first hour suit the gleeful malevolence of "the game," and somber music enhances the emotional resonance of multiple scenes. It's nice to see the Orlesian bard get her due, though the by-the-numbers clashes and restricted party size keep this three-hour slice of downloadable content from hitting consistent high notes. But if you like the prospect of seeing the impish side of Dragon Age's most pious party member, this $7 add-on is a solid proposition.

The items and story make the campaign worth picking up, but Dragon Age fans may be a bit put off by the limited gameplay and brevity. It certainly doesn't hurt to buy it now, considering it costs less than $10, but it's just as worthwhile to wait and see if it's ever bundled together with other expansions in a complete DLC pack.

Most diehard Dragon Age fans have already purchased “Leliana’s Song.” If you’re on the fence about it due to disappointment in the other DLC then I recommend taking a chance on this one. It’s another dose of that lovely BioWare combination of fun gameplay and great storytelling. Out of all the Dragon Age DLC, “The Stone Prisoner” and “Leliana’s Song” are the best. This DLC is a nice prequel chapter in the Dragon Age saga that offers a few hours of fun and some nice armor that can be used in the full game.

If you already consider Dragon Age to be a thing of the past, Leliana’s Song isn’t enough to make you load the game up again. If, however, Leliana happens to be your favorite character or you’re always willing to play more Dragon Age, then this origin story showing how she wound up joining the Chantry is worth a look. It’s short but packs in a lot of plot twists, fully voiced cut scenes and a number of conversations, as well as experience gain, room to level up, and the opportunity to customize your party to a degree. It’s nothing revolutionary, but a solid addition to the ever expanding stable of adventures in BioWare’s Dragon Age.

So if you are looking to get more insight into the French redheaded Rouge and see what she was up to before she met you and the gang well then you probably have already bought the DLC, for others, you are basically looking at 1 hour of extra Dragon Age: Origins for 560 Microsoft points, if that sounds reasonable to you, then give Leliana’s Song a look… or listen.

Overall Leliana’s Song is one of the better Dragon Age: Origins downloadable side stories, the others are good but this one did an exceptional job of letting the player learn even more about one of the party members and the story itself was impressive. For $7.00 it is a pretty good deal considering the story and content you get out of it.
